Capacity Building
Riverland West Local Action Planning (RWLAP) staff continues to build the capacity of the community to undertake on ground works by sourcing funding plus supporting the LAP committee. Also by organising and attending wetland monitoring days and supplying technical knowledge supplied. Staff worked on revegetation projects with Waikerie and Ramco Primary Schools and the local Youth Environment Team. Additionally, throughout the year, RWLAP staff produced quarterly newsletters and continued to monitor and enhance habitat for Regent Parrots.

Biodiversity and Habitat Restoration
The focus of work was to establish corridors of native vegetation linking the remnant vegetation in the mallee to the river Also on National tree day students from Waikerie Primary school planted trees at the new truck stop on the highway.

Wetland and Floodplain Rehabilitation
Work involved for this project in 2006-07 included 6 weekly ground water monitoring, 3 monthly water and vegetation monitoring plus monitoring and managing structures restricting water from entering wetlands . Tasks involved included the clearing of the Murbpook inlet channel and the construction of clay bank to assist in the drying of Hart lagoon.
